BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY
Located on the banks of river Ganga, Banaras Hindu University, the oldest residential University in the country, was established in 1916 by the visionary educationist Mahamana Madan Mohan Malaviya. The picturesque 1400 acre campus houses three Institutes (Medical, Technology and Agricutlure), a Women’s College (Mahila Mahavidyalaya), 15 Faculties, 123 Departments and 4 interdisciplinary Schools. The rapidly growing 2760 acre south campus of the University is located at Barkachha in Vindhyan Plateau about 70 km from Varanasi.
MAHILA MAHAVIDYALAYA
Mahila Mahavidyalaya (estd. 1929, originally named Women’s College) of the Banaras Hindu University is a landmark in the history of women’s education in northern India. MMV is one of the first institutions to champion the cause of women empowerment through education.
An extensive infrastructure facility (over 7800 sq. m floor area), Savitri Devi Dalmia Vigyan Bhawan, has been created through the efforts and generous donation (over Rs 8 crores) by a distinguished alumna of MMV. A Cyberhut having internet connectivity is separately available fully wired campus.
VARANASI
Varanasi, with its ancient name Kashi and popularly known as Banaras is one of the oldest living cities in the world. Besides being a cultural and religious centre of India, it remained from the ancient times a great seat of learning. The past glory of education and erudition of Varanasi is being kept alive by Banaras Hindu University founded by Mahamana Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviyaji.
Varanasi is well connected by train and air with all major cities of India.
